ETC Hub

With support from the John Fell Fund, a new interdisciplinary hub is advancing research on education and training for the climate (ETC). Education and training have an essential role to play in the global mitigation of and adaptation to climate change. Over the next 18 months, the hub will bring together people across Oxford’s academic divisions through a series of activities:

  • Mapping current ETC activities and research at Oxford to create a vibrant web presence and online network.
  • Creating the space for this network to share work and interests through a series of workshops and webinars.
  • Building an interdisciplinary research agenda and funding bids to expand ETC research and practice at the University of Oxford.

Education and training have an essential role to play in the global mitigation of and adaptation to climate change. The Future ETC (Future of Education and Training for the Climate) hub will map out relevant expertise at Oxford, making the breadth and depth of this research visible for the first time through a vibrant online presence. The hub will bring together an expansive network in Oxford and a strategic group of international, interdisciplinary collaborators to generate new research insights into education and training for the climate. Through a series of workshops and webinars, the Future ETC hub will explore questions around knowledge, policy, curricular reform, skills, training and industry; teacher education and professional development; global vocational training systems; and educational institution responses. This interdisciplinary portfolio of research activity will be supported by collaborative research bids to ensure the growth of research on education and training for the climate at Oxford.
