Unlocking the Potential of Artificial Intelligence for English Law

Unlocking the Potential of Artificial Intelligence for English Law

WP 5 covers two main streams of activity.  The first has been a series of interviews with law and law technology firms to uncover more about their approaches to deploying technology to change products and service delivery, their recruitment and training patterns, and the career histories of those working in this area. The second strand has focused on developing an educational response to the need identified above. This has taken the form of a joint Law and Computer Science course for Masters/4th year students in both departments.  The aim is to enable lawyers and computer scientists to understand core concepts from both disciplines, to be aware of cultural differences between the two, and to explore how technology will impact on the work of being a lawyer and also what effects it may have on the substance of law itself. In addition, this WP has established a Law and Technology Education Network to bring together academics who are grappling with how best to teach the new skills that are needed so that they can share best practice and showcase potential solutions.
